At Chip Wynn Motors, we offer a wide variety of used cars, trucks, and SUVs. Many of the vehicles on our lot are equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD). But why would you want a vehicle with AWD?
For starters, AWD provides better traction, which is helpful in hilly Kentucky, especially during the winter. Better traction means your wheels hug the street more securely, reducing the possibility for your wheels to spin and cause you to lose control. In essence, AWD is an extra safety measure in rain, sleet, ice, and snow.
If you live in the north or travel to the northern United States regularly, AWD is probably a smart option for you.
Because AWD adds this extra safety element to modern cars, drivers will pay more for it. That means, when it comes time to sell your AWD-equipped model to a dealership or private buyer, that dealer or buyer will pay you more just for the AWD technology.
Do note, AWD models will also cost more on dealership lots or with private sellers, and they also reduce your gas mileage. If you do not intend to drive your vehicle in rainy or cold climates—or eventually sell it to a driver who does—it may not be worth the investment.
